Features of The Everything Kids’ Learning Activities Book
The Everything Kids’ Learning Activities Book is a complete guide for entertaining kids and at the same time promoting important learning concepts in the key areas of reading, writing, math, science, and social studies. The indoor and outdoor activities are geared for kids five to twelve. Activities for older children build on skill sets learned in the activities for younger children. Though each section’s activities build upon the skills of previous activities, there is no right order in which to do the activities.
The games, projects, and experiments are easy to organize and easy on the pocket book. The games and projects can be done using materials most families already have in the home and some activities require no equipment at all. Kids use their brains and bodies as tools for learning.
Ms. Morin’s activity and games book is a wonderful resource for homeschooling families, teachers looking for new, FUN activities and any caregiver who wants a child to have fun and be learning things at the same time. Remember how useful it will be during those rainy or stormy holidays from school! The teacher in me sees 145 detailed lesson plans of A+ quality, like we had to do in university education courses, in Ms. Morin’s activity book!

Chapter 1
The Five Key Learning Areas
Children learn best when they’re motivated to make sense of the world around them. They learn on their own terms, at their own pace, and they learn best when they’re trying to make meaning of the world. Although that may sound as though parents, teachers, and caregivers don’t have any role when it comes to children’s learning, that’s far from true. By providing children with stimulating activities full of learning opportunities and taking advantage of teachable moments, parent and caregivers can create an environment in which children learn new skills without even really trying.
The Everything Kids’ Learning Activities Book has 23 chapters with lots of sub-headings. The Table of Contents and the 10 page Index make it a breeze to find information quickly.
The salient points of The Everything® Kids’ Learning Activities Book:
- Activities are geared to be incorporated into everyday life as much as possible and try to use common household materials or no materials.
- Activities support skill learning in five realms: reading, writing, math, science and social studies.
- Each activity provides the skills being practiced as well as directions and follow-up (or Extend the Learning) suggestions.
- The book doesn’t have to be used in order and the activities are skill-geared, so they’re not tied to specific ages.
